Together, they enable you to create a site that is easy to update by you (without having to modify the .swi everytime), and by other people who may know nothing about FLASH, HTML, or how to use FTP etc.
I wanted to create & use both of these things, but wasn't sure how to. I looked around thousands of sites & forums for answers, and found loads.
Unfortunately, some of the external text loader plugins I found, wouldn't work with the PHP edit forms I found, and vice versa.
When I did find a way to get the 2 to work together, I discovered that the PHP form added extra \ (slashes) to the text files, which prevented the SWF from reading it, so I had to find a solution to that too.
I also discovered that when you use INPUT TYPE=SUMIT, everything worked fine, but if you wanted to use your own button and so use INPUT TYPE=IMAGE instead, it didn't work, so I had to find a solution to that too!
So...... here is everything I have learnt - in one place.
Hopefully this will help others, and prevent the many hours of hair pulling I experienced :-)
CONTENTS OF S-DESIGN.ZIP [1] The swi file to copy sprites from & the plugin swf used to load external text.
I found this at swish-db.com (so thanks to them).
Unlike many other plugins I have seen, this is TOTALLY customisable. You can alter the size of the text area, the colour of the text, the scroll bar (oh yes it scrolls too, or not if you wish - both examples are included), and you can import text from more than one text file, individually or at the same time!
[2] 2 php edit forms, update help file, and images
Upon visiting the form, the content of your text file is immediately displayed. You edit it and click submit, and your text file is immediately updated (and visible on your site!!!) A simple way to refresh the form, so you can update again immediately without having to close and then revisit the form, is also explained and demonstrated in the file. [3] A readme.html file
Provides a guide to using the above!
Unzip the file s-design.zip and extract to a folder of your choice. Then simply open the readme.html file.
